Request for Street Lighting Modifications at Non-Governmental Expense

Please complete the form below to submit your request. These conditions must be satisfied for PLA to initiate work:

Organizations or individuals seeking relocation, temporary removal or upgrades of roadway streetlights or related wiring will need to file a Plan of Work with the PLA for approval.
Applicant organizations will bear all costs involved in the Plan of Work as approved by PLA.
Upon receipt of the approved Plan of Work, the applicant organization should return a signed acceptance for PLA to initiate a work order.
Applicant organizations will make financial arrangements with the PLA before the approved Plan of Work can be executed.

Discover our Mission

The Public Lighting Authority (PLA) is a state-created authority whose mission is to improve, modernize and maintain all street lights in the City of Detroit with brighter, more reliable, more energy efficient lights. The new lights in neighborhoods are 150-watt equivalent LED lights, twice as bright as the 75-watt equivalent High Pressure Sodium Lights that were the standard under the old system. The LED lights are also much more energy efficient than the High Pressure Sodium lights.
