Public Lighting Authority Board of Directors names CEO

February 6, 2016

DETROIT – The Public Lighting Authority (PLA) Board of Directors announced today it has appointed Nicolette Carlone as Chief Executive Officer of the PLA.

Carlone, who has served as both Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer of the Authority, succeeds Odis Jones, who resigned earlier in the week.

Board Chair Lorna Thomas, M.D. said, “With her in-depth experience in the day-to-day operations of the PLA as both COO and CFO, Nicolette Carlone is the obvious choice to continue the tremendous progress we are making in relighting the City of Detroit. We believe her appointment will result in a seamless transition that maintains the momentum we have achieved over the past two years.”

Carlone said, “I am honored that the board has chosen to name me CEO of the Public Lighting Authority. With the help of the outstanding team that we have in place at the PLA, we will continue to work to complete the relighting of the remainder of the city ahead of schedule and under budget.”

Carlone joined the PLA as Chief Financial Officer in February 2014 and was named Chief Operating Officer in August 2015. She has been involved in all aspects of PLA operations throughout her tenure at the Authority and was instrumental in securing the $185 million financing that made the capital project possible

Carlone, a Certified Public Accountant, is a lifelong Michigan resident and holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Eastern Michigan University and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Michigan.
